January 14, 1926 ~ November 17, 2022 (age 96)

Obituary

William "Bill" Lee Allen, 96, of Bicknell IN passed away at  Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN on Nov 17, 2022. Bill was born Jan 14, 1926 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Thomas and Flossie (Smith) Allen. He was the youngest boy of his parents and the last of all fourteen to grace this earth.

Bill was a Veteran having served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey. He later began his career with Public Service Indiana as a lineman for approximately thirteen years before leaving for I.B.E.W. until his retirement in 1988.

He was an avid bowler for nearly thirty years and then switched to golfing after retirement. He also was a deer hunter and made numerous hunting trips to Colorado. Hunting groundhogs was also a favorite pastime in his younger years as well. If you played as his partner in Euchre, you'd better have brought your  "A" game! He loved playing cards and all the fun and fellowship which came along with it. The card game Gin was another favorite. Sitting at his and Betty's kitchen table one might not get the chance to finish ones meal before Bill would drag the cards out and begin dealing a game. Also in 1974 he and his sons played together as a team in the men's  softball league in Bicknell. In his younger years he played football for the Lincoln High School football team class of 1942.

Bill is survived by his wife of 76 years Betty Ruth (Foote) Allen, of Bicknell, IN; Sons Floyd (Betty) Allen of Albuquerque NM, Mark (Janice) Allen of Vincennes, IN; Daughter Teresa (Brian) Blinn of Vincennes IN; Daughter-In-law Pam Allen of Bicknell, IN; Grandchildren Dawn Gluth of Fremont, OH, Jesse Allen (Teresa) of Vincennes, IN, Brent Allen of Paxton, IN, Jennifer Jones (Paul) of Bicknell, IN, Jimmy Allen of Bicknell, IN, Penny Koenig (Eric) of Bicknell IN, Todd Allen of Vincennes, IN, Mindy Frison (Corry) of Vincennes, IN, Amy (Sean) Stovall of Robinson IL, Tricia (Adam) Rife of Bargersville, IN, Staci (Brent) Henderson of Noblesville, IN, Kristen (Kirk) Young of Westfield, IN, Sarah McKinney (Josh) of Vincennes, IN, and Kyle Blinn (Randa) of Bruceville, IN; several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
