William Wiscaver Obituary

William Edward Wiscaver, called Bill by most, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in Freelandville, IN, on May 20, 2025. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on June 14, 1946, and his life was defined by the love he had for his family, his dedication to his work, and the simple joys he found in his many hobbies.

Bill married the love of his life, Janet "Reel" Wiscaver, on September 29, 1967, in Shawneetown, IL, building a life together that was filled with joy and unity. They were blessed with a son, William “Billy” Edward Wiscaver II (Bobbi) of Linton, IN, who added to Bill’s joy with the addition of three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His heart and home were always full of love and laughter.

He proudly served in the National Guard, exemplifying his sense of duty and patriotism. Bill’s industrious spirit led him to a fulfilling career as a Coal Miner, and he was a respected team member at Essex Wire in the Wire Department. He was the epitome of the American worker, known for his reliability and strong work ethic.

An avid traveler and camper, Bill found pleasure in the simplicity of nature and the open road. His skilled hands were often busy building furniture and crafting pillows, through which he expressed his creativity and resourcefulness.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his survivors: his devoted wife, Janet; his son, Billy (Bobbi); his adoring grandchildren: Eric Wiscaver, Megan Pitcher (Travis), and Wesley Wiscaver (Haley) and 10 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Glen and Don Wiscaver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ruth Mable "Buckley" Wiscaver, his daughters, Monica Rosetta and Tammy Rosetta, and sisters, Mildred and Nora.

Bill’s life was a portrait of a man who was tremendously loving, unfailingly handy, and universally friendly—a man who will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
