Wendell Perkins Obituary

Wendell Lee Perkins, a cherished patriarch and friend to many, passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 84, in Evansville, IN. Born on February 13, 1941, in Sumner, IL, he lived a vibrant life characterized by dedication, love for his family, and a passion for simplicity.

Wendell graduated from high school, laying a strong foundation for his future. On December 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Judith Ann "Murphy" Perkins, in Vincennes, IN. His career took him on the open roads as a truck driver for Walmart, where he ultimately retired, only to continue driving for Robinson Farms. His dedication to work was only surpassed by his commitment to his family.

In his personal time, Wendell found joy in the hum of engines and the restoration of antique tractors. Not a moment was too small to be cherished, especially when spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in every action, every hug, and every story he shared with them.

He will be fondly remembered as a man who was always handy - a fixer of anything broken and a builder of everything from love to machines. His friendly nature drew people to him, and his kind-heartedness kept them there. Wendell was a man who enriched the lives of those around him through his gentle spirit and generous heart.

Wendell leaves behind a legacy of love and an extended family grateful for his presence in their lives. Survivors include his children, Chris Perkins (Anita) of Vincennes, IN, and Cathy Rice (John) of Indianapolis, IN; his adoring six grandchildren: Stephen Davis Jr., Nicole Boyd (Marv), Aaron Davis (Tia), Ashely Robbins (Jessie), Levi Perkins (Christina), and Christie Ruppel (Trevor), and ten great-grandchildren: Erica, Makala, Natalie, Jacklynn, Jessa, Jessie Oliver, Addie, Jaxston, Oliver, and Georgia; brothers, Wayne Perkins (Carol), Charles "Chuck" Perkins, and Steve Perkins (Nanette), all of Vincennes, IN; sister-in-law, Lesa Perkins; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Ann "Murphy" Perkins; his parents, Lawrence and Georgia Mae "Edwards" Perkins; and his brother, Michael Perkins.

Wendell Lee Perkins lived a rich life, full of giving, sharing, and loving. He leaves behind a multitude of memories that will be treasured by all who knew him. His light, though no longer present on this earth, will continue to shine brightly through every life he touched.

The family will announce a private service held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Vincennes Pet Port. Online condolences and fond memories may be made at www.fredrickandson.com.
