Violet Lou Chesser, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on April 27, 2024, in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on April 26, 1947, in Henryville, Indiana, to the late Fern Vanmeter Martin and Wallace Martin, Violet lived a life marked by love, devotion, and kindness.
She is survived by her husband, James Chesser, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Together, they brought into the world a loving family that includes their children, David Chesser of Vincennes, Pamela Shuppert (David) of Vincennes, Angela LaMar (Robert) of Bridgeport, IL, and Michele Wolbers of Vincennes. Violet’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, Hailey Knight, Monica Marrket, Montegomery Fleck, David Shuppert Jr, Joeseph Wolbers, Devin Shuppert, and her great-grandchild, Rowan Franklin. Her passing follows that of her brother, James Martin, and sister, Rosalie Taylor, with whom she now rests in peace.
Violet’s professional contribution as a secretary for the Knox County Library was marked by diligence and a genuine warmth that touched the lives of many in her community. Her love for sewing and unwavering commitment to her family were the fabric of her being, weaving joy into the lives of those she loved.
Violet's life was a tapestry of meaningful relationships and shared experiences. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. Her radiant spirit and the love she fostered will continue to bloom in her family's memories like the most delicate of Vincennes' spring flowers.
