Verna Leann (Sturgeon) Koenig

Verna “Susie” Leann Koenig, 67 of Bicknell, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Susie was born on May 11, 1955 in Vincennes to the late Luretta Snyder Sturgeon and James Monroe Sturgeon.

Susie enjoyed helping others and worked as a CNA and also at K.C.A.R.C. She liked; playing bingo, spending time with her family, and being attentive to her patient’s needs. Susie was a member of Word of Life Church and loved being with friends at the Betty J. McCormick Center.

Those left to mourn the loss of Susie are; children, Christa Hendrixson (Ryan Lee Stoopes) of Bicknell, Christopher Koenig (Ronda) of Vincennes, Misty Martinez Cruz (Francisco) of Washington, and David Koenig (Lisa) of Bicknell; eleven grandchildren, James “J.C.” Koenig, Kyra Koenig, Paula, Aleana, Kelsy, Logan, Harley, Hodalys Martinez Cruz, and Michael, Noah and Nathaniel Koenig; great-grandchildren, Phoenix Koenig; siblings, Elliott Sturgeon, Jim Sturgeon, Patty Chestnut, Paul Sturgeon, Roger Sturgeon, and Linda McGiffen; and many nieces and nephews. 

Susie was preceded in death by; parents, a sister, Judith Sturgeon, a grandson, Curtis Reno, two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Roser Graham, and Baby Salas and her fiancé Robert Gee.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with a service immediately following all at The Word of Life Church. Burial will follow in Bicknell Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes online condolences to be left at www.fredrickandson.com.
