Sheila Faye (Sparenberg) Greemore

Obituary

Sheila Faye Greemore, 72, went with the Lord on May 20, 2021, at home with her family by her side.  Sheila was born September 8, 1948, in Vincennes, to Murel "Sparky" Sparenberg and Olive (Way) Sparenberg.  Sheila married her first husband, Michael Davis Remmel in 1969.  She later married Willie Greemore in 1984.  Growing up, Sheila was part of the Free Methodist Church.  

 

Sheila graduated from Vincennes University as an education major.  She received her Masters Degree in Education (K-12) from Indiana State University.  She paid for all her schooling through work study programs.  In 1969, Sheila married Michael Davis Remmel.  On May 17, 1970, she gave birth to their first daughter, Bonnie Jo Remmel, and taught one year in the Barr-Reeve school system.  In 1972, she started teaching for the Vincennes Community Schools, and on June 27, 1977, Sheila gave birth to their second daughter, Angela Kathleen Remmel, and finally gave birth to their son, Adam Michael Remmel on July 27, 1979.  In 1982, they divorced, and she married Will R. Greemore in 1984.  In 1986, Will adopted Angela and Adam. 

 

Sheila was a well-known, highly respected and beloved, educator for forty years.  She taught at Tecumseh-Harrison and Vigo Elementry Schools.  She then taught 6th grade Science and Health when the middle school started in 1988 at Clark Middle School until her retirement.  

 

Sheila was a member of her teachers' union, and a past member of the Washington Moose Lodge.

 

Sheila was known for her singing and guitar playing, and her love of animals (especially hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, ferrets, and goats -- she was even known to bring them to the classroom).  Sheila was known as the "frog lady" because of her interesting dissection lessons.  It was evident to all she loved teaching, and loved her students.  She taught at Franklin Elementary School and was additionally, named Walmart Teacher of Year.

 

Sheila loved riding her motorcycle to school and around town; she was an avid reader of spiritual  and reincarnation books; loved working with computers; music; flowers and plants.  She loved her family, her grandchildren, and her beloved dog, BoBo and traveling with her dear friend Ann Risley.

 

Sheila leaves behind her children:  Bonnie Jo (Todd) Griffee of Bloomington, Angela (Danny) Ivers of Bruceville, and Adam (Laura) Greemore of Newburgh.  Sheila is survived by her six grandchildren:  Mackenzie Walling, Brock Walling, Hannah Ivers, Ashlynn Ivers, Everett Greemore, and Aiden Greemore; her twin sister, Shirley (Glenn) Lakes, and her companion, Russell "Tick" Pankey.  Additionally, Sheila is survived by nephews:  Jason Lakes, Joshua Lakes, David Dunn, Mark Sparenberg,  and John Bret Sparenberg, and nieces:  Kacey Hansberry and Babie Harlib.

 

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, second husband, brother Charles Edward Sparenberg, and nephew Chuck Sparenberg.  

 

Visitation for Sheila Faye Greemore will be held at the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church Street, Vincennes, Monday, May 24, 4:00-8:00 p.m.  

 

The funeral for Sheila will be held at the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Matt Hoffman will officiate.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 919 Willow Street, Vincennes.
