Sharon Westfall Obituary

Sharon Rae "Young" Westfall, a spirited soul known for her laughter and loving nature, passed away on April 30, 2025, in Vincennes, IN. Born on November 13, 1944, in Washington, IN, Sharon's lively spirit and ability to bring humor and joy to the lives of those around her.

Fondly remembered by her family, friends, and those she touched with her kindness, Sharon graduated from North Knox High School, thereafter dedicating many years of service at Gossards as well as Hermetic Coil Factory. Her work ethic and sense of community were traits that her colleagues admired and endeared her to many. Sharon married her beloved husband, Eddie Wayne Westfall, on May 17, 1991, and together they built a loving and fun-filled family.

Sharon's life was characterized by the numerous interests and passions that spoke of her enthusiasm for life. An avid Elvis collector, Sharon surrounded herself with music and memorabilia that echoed the rock and roll spirit she carried within her. Her garden was a testament to her patience and love for the vibrant colors of nature, especially her favorite color, red, and her deep affection for her beloved pets—a cat and a dog—was a constant source of joy and companionship.

Art and travel sketched the backdrop of Sharon's adventures, while sports were the foreground of excitement, coaching softball and fervently supporting Indiana University football and basketball teams. Whether it was scouring yard sales for hidden treasures, bowling strikes in her league, or simply enjoying the camaraderie at local lodges and clubs such as the VFW, Moose Lodge, French Club, Eagles Lodge, Sharon's cheerful presence was unmistakable. Her faith was nurtured and shared at the Church of Nazarene, where she rejoiced in fellowship.

A loving mother and grandmother, Sharon's legacy continues through her children, Gina R. Cerino (companion Robert Hudecek) of Bangor, PA, Monica R. Johnson (Travis W. Johnson) of Sumner, IL, step-daughter, Kim Fine (Richard), and her cherished grandchildren, Allie R. Johnson and Sladen W. Johnson. Her journey now joins those who preceded her in death: her devoted husband Eddie Wayne Westfall, her parents Vaughn Kinwood Young and Gloria Lee "Gibson" Trotter, her step-father Bud Trotter, her brother David Earl Young, and sister Rhonda Kerns.

Sharon's shining personality was a beacon of fun and love, lighting up every room she entered and inspiring others with her lively spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will forever bring smiles to the faces of those she loved.
