Roy Allen Polzin, a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on July 1, 2023, in Washington, IN. Roy was born on October 15, 1937, in Antigo, WI, to Raymond Robert Polzin and Dorthea "Klapper" Polzin, enveloped in a family that would grow with his warm and kind-hearted spirit.
He attended Escanaba High School in Michigan, graduating with the class of 1956, before continuing his education with college courses from Indiana State that would pave the way for his future. Roy's deeply instilled sense of duty led him to serve honorably in the Army for four years. Following his service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an engineer and later as a sales manager for Bucyrus-Erie Heavy Equipment. Roy’s work ethic, integrity, and congenial nature, garnered respect and lasting relationships throughout his long and rewarding career.
Roy's life was a testament to his affection for family and community. He is survived by his loving daughter, Sandy Polzin of South Milwaukee, WI; step-daughters, Treva Mulligan (Jim) of Rochester, IN, and Drenda Kay Kendall of Loogootee, IN; his precious ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His loyal canine companion, Buddy, also remains a faithful friend in memory.
His life was brightened and shaped by a variety of interests. Roy was an avid animal lover, holding a special place in his heart for his dogs. He was an eager reader and loved to cheer on the Green Bay Packers. He was an active member of various associations, including the American Legion, Elks, Moose, and Eagles clubs, demonstrating his commitment to fellowship and service.
Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly Polzin; his son, Guy Polzin; sister, Elaine Beoudion; his parents; and dear pets. Remembered as friendly, wise, and exceptionally kind, Roy's legacy is one of unwavering love, laughter, and wisdom shared unreservedly with all who knew him. His influence will be felt and his presence missed, but the light of his life will continue to inspire.
