Robert Field Obituary

 

Mr. Robert Max Field, age 93 of Memphis, TN, passed away on September 17, 2022. Bob was born April 21, 1929, in Scircleville, IN, to the late Owen Marshall Field and wife, Thyrsa Grove Field. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Field, brother James Field, and grandson, Will Leffler. He is survived by his brother Owen Field, daughter, Lisa Leffler, son, Mark Field (wife, Debbie), and grandchildren, Robert Leffler (wife, Mallory), Forrest Field (wife, Caitlin), and Anna Field; and a great granddaughter, Leone Leffler. A memorial service for Bob is planned for Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 3:00pm at Germantown Church of Christ. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service starting at 2:00pm . Bob played football as a freshman at Purdue University where he met Suzanne Polk and they were named Mr. & Miss Purdue and got married in 1951. Bob was assigned to serve as a medic in the Korean war. After the war and a job or two, he went to work in custom rubber product sales for Firestone and traveled a large territory calling on manufacturers. Bob loved puzzles and helped invent a number of products to solve problems experienced by his customers. He also loved spending time with his family, such as going to the beach, traveling with his lovely wife, Suzanne, working in the yard, watching Indie 500 races, helping others, telling stories, working crossword puzzles, and playing with his Schnauzers.

A graveside service will be held Saturday 11 A.M. October 1, 2022 at the Oaktown Cemetery.  Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Oaktown Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
