Robert Holt Ashley, 88, of Oaktown, In, has went to the Lord's Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
He was born on May 6, 1931 on the family farm called "Ashley Acres" the son of Wilbur Wilson and Helen Bernice (Holt) Ashley.
He married Patricia Jane West of Bicknell on June 20, 1952. Celebrated their 67 years of marriage this year. He attended 12 years at Freelandville Schools and graduated in 1949. Attended a short course at Purdue University. He served in the Third Armored Division in the army in 1954. Stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky, then he was in Aberdeen, Maryland and Yuma, Arizona. And then to Fort Churchhill, Canada. Returned home in June 1956.
Bob was a lifelong farmer on the homestead. Raised cattle, hogs, chickens, sheep, corn, and beans. Retiring from farming in 1993 and then went to work for the Oaktown Farm Bureau Co-op, Darwin Emmel Construction, Freelandville Mill, ASCS office and the United Producers.
A lifelong member of Morris Chapel Church, taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Church Cemetery Board. A Board member of the Freelandville Community Home.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Jane and two sons. William Robert (Debbie) Ashley of Oaktown and Daniel Wayne (Jamie) Ashley of Bruceville. Six Grandchildren: Amanda (Tyler) York of Bridgeport, Sara (Luke) Worstell of Vincennes, Matthew Ashley (fiancée Diana Powell) of Oaktown, Natalie (CJ) Keating of Plainfeld, Nathan (Kylea) Ashley of Vincennes, and Nevin (Ashley) Ashley of St. Wendel.
His twelve (Charlies) great-grandchildren: Eastyn & Elivya York, Grace, Gretchynn, Gabriella, & Gwynneth Worstell, Averie & Aubrie Keating, Mattilynn & Caroline Ashley and Gaige & Aiden Ashley.
Preceding in his death were his parents, a sister Fava Jean Johanningsmeier and her husband Paul.

Visitation will be Thursday December 26, 2019 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. with a funeral being held at 4 P.M. at the Morris Chapel Church. He will be laid to rest in the Morris Chapel Cemetery following the Funeral. Online condolences may be made at www.fredrickandson.com
