Rhonda G (Hulen) Kerns

Rhonda G. “Hulen” Kerns, age 76, of Oaktown, passed away peacefully on the 9th of May, 2024. Born on May 22, 1947, in Vincennes, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late Melvie Carrico Hulen and Mussy Hulen.

A true partner in agriculture, Rhonda was recognized as a hardworking farm wife throughout her life, diligently supporting her family's endeavors on their land. Her commitment extended beyond her personal work as she embodied the spirit of community within the Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member.

Rhonda's life was imbued with love and a deep connection to her family. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, reflected in her fondness for Pepsi Cola and the precious moments shared with her loved ones. Rhonda's legacy continues through her children, John D. Kerns Jr. and Brian M. Kerns; her adoring sister, Sharon Westfall; her six grandchildren Johnny Abel, Courtney Kerns, Christopher (Kecia Trowbridge) Kerns, Jennifer (Damian) Simpkins, Brianna Kerns, Gavin Brendel and the light of her recent years, two great-grandchild Carson Knight and Treyton Kerns. 

She was reunited in death with her beloved husband, John David Kerns Sr., whom she married on a wintry day, December 17, 1966, in Edwardsport, Indiana, and her treasured children, Linda Denise Abel and Michael Christopher Kerns.

Rhonda will be remembered for her resilience, her unwavering faith, and the warmth she extended to all who knew her. Her memory will be eternally cherished within the hearts she leaves behind.
