Paul Reese Obituary

Paul Leon Reese, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 11, 2023, in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on September 4, 1939, in Vermilion to the late Georgia Hickman Powers and Claude Reese.

Paul grew up in Vermilion and graduated from Paris High School in Illinois. After high school, he dedicated his life to serving his country and became a United States Army veteran for seven years. Following his military service, Paul found employment with CBS-Columbia Records. He eventually retired from a fulfilling career at Hulman Field Airport. Throughout his life, Paul remained an active member of the Narfee-National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where he built lasting friendships and memories.

He is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Barbara “Mickey” Willis Reese, and their loving children, Melinda “Susie” Roberts, Kelly Ann Renteria Evans (David), and Jason Reese. Paul's life was further enriched by his cherished grandchildren, Rauby Lawyer, Jacklyn Sue Lawyer, Zachary Glenn Renteria (Kayla), Gabriella Renteria Evans, Aidan Paul Reese, and Alexis Ann Reese. He was also blessed to have six great-grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. Together with his adored dog, Spanky, Paul's family members brought him endless joy and happiness.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Hickman Powers and Claude Reese, as well as his brother, Richard Allen Reese. His memory will live on through the many people who called him a friend, a mentor, or a role model.

Throughout his life, Paul was an avid bass fisherman, often sharing his love and knowledge of the sport with his friends and family. He took great pride in his lawn care, tending to his property with dedication and attention to detail. Paul was also passionate about mushroom hunting and enjoyed spending time in nature, continuing to explore the outdoors even in his later years.

One of the highlights of Paul's life was participating in the Honor Flight Program. This experience allowed him to connect with and honor his fellow veterans, while paying tribute in person to the many men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The Honor Flight was undoubtedly an experience that brought deep emotions to all who knew Paul and those who heard of his experiences.

Paul will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering commitment to his family, and his dedication to service. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind and in the stories they share of his life.

In conclusion, Paul Leon Reese was a remarkable man who touched the lives of countless people throughout his 83 years.
