Nancy Winter Kirk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on March 5, 1938, Nancy was a cherished member of her community and a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.
Nancy's early life in Bicknell paved the way for a journey filled with love, laughter, and dedication. She graduated from Bicknell High School and continued her education by attending college. Her professional life was marked by her conscientious work as a clerk at the Bicknell License Branch, her time at Tressler's, and her role as a telephone operator, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and exceptional service.
Married to her loving husband, Jerry Kirk, Nancy's life was further enriched by their beautiful family. She was the proud mother of Jeff Kirk of Oaktown, IN, and Janice Mundy (Jeff Mundy) of Oaktown, IN. Nancy was also a doting grandmother to Kirk Mundy (Nikki) of Bicknell, IN, and Kent Mundy (Kelly) of Oaktown, IN. Her legacy continued to blossom with her great-grandchildren Anthony, Connor, Raelynn, Ruby, Carson, Harvey, Conrad, and Lillian Mundy, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy "Winter" Cadwell and Charles Cadwell, and her daughter, Cindi Paden. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones who have passed before her.
Those who knew Nancy remember her as a woman of many talents and passions. She had a gifted hand for crocheting and a green thumb that could make any garden bloom. Nancy's cooking and canning skills were unparalleled, and her culinary creations will be dearly missed at family gatherings.
A woman of faith, Nancy dedicated many years to playing the organ at the Bicknell Methodist Church and the Freelandville Methodist Church. Her music was not only a form of worship but also a gift she shared generously with her congregation, bringing harmony and peace to all who listened.
Nancy's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. Her unwavering support and presence in her family's lives have left an indelible mark that will be cherished for generations to come. As her family and friends bid her farewell, they take solace in the memories and the love she has left behind.
Visitation will be at Bicknell Methodist Church,309 W 3rd St., Bicknell, IN on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 11:00 until 1:00 pm with a service immediately following with Pastor Keagan Thomas officiating. Burial will take place at Freelandville Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Freelandville Community Home.
