Marilyn Williams Obituary

Marilyn Sue Williams, a cherished and loving figure in the Oaktown community, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Knox County, Indiana, on June 17, 1936, Marilyn was the loving daughter of the late Freida Oexmann Reitmeyer and Raymond Reitmeyer. A lifetime resident of the area, Marilyn left an indelible mark of kindness and devotion on all who knew her.

Marilyn's life was one of unwavering dedication to her family, which was her pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved husband, Hal Curtis Williams. Their marriage, which began on a beautiful spring day at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Decker, Indiana, on April 20, 1963, was a testament to enduring love, flourishing over 60 beautiful years together. Her legacy continues through her son, Curtis Kent Williams (Jill), and her adored grandson, Curtis Kade Williams, both of whom reside in Oaktown. Her sisters, Barbara Jean Daugherty and Rosalie Schenk of Vincennes, also survive her. Marilyn was predeceased by her sisters Karen Kay Ellis and Nelta Rae Grubb.

Marilyn embraced the role of homemaker with grace and passion, always placing her family at the forefront of her life. She cultivated a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love, a haven for her loved ones. She enjoyed making noodles, caramels, and coney dogs. Marilyn especially enjoyed doing things with Kade and watching I.U. Basketball when Bobby Knight was coaching.

Beyond her home, Marilyn was a committed member of the Oaktown First Christian Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's joys and tribulations. She also found joy and great pleasure in groups including St. Peter's Girls and the Elks Women's Golf League, contributing to her community and fostering friendships that would last a lifetime.

With her passing, Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to shine brightly through the lives of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
On behalf of the the family, we would like to extend a warm thanks to the care team at Good Samaritan Hospital on the third floor; their team of doctors, nurses, and caregivers are greatly appreciated.
