Lucile Cowles Obituary

Lucile M. Cowles, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024, in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on January 31, 1947, in Minburn, Iowa, to the late Virginia Bowman England and Marvin D. England, Lucile was a beacon of loving kindness cherished by all who knew her.

In her youth, Lucile cultivated a profound work ethic that guided her professional endeavors. She dedicated years of service to Stride Rite Shoe Store, ensuring that each task was completed with meticulous care. Her clerical talents were also an asset to Bethany Presbyterian Church where she spent many years. Lucile also was employed by Organ's Flowers, where her organizational skills and warmth radiated through the community.

A skilled seamstress with a creative spirit, Lucile took delight in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her talent was epitomized when she meticulously crafted her daughter's prom dress—a testament to her artful precision and thoughtful touch. Lucile's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in creating beautiful garments and keepsakes that her family will treasure forever.

While her work and hobbies brought her fulfillment, it was her role as a family matriarch that truly defined her. Lucile's loving legacy lives on through her devoted daughters, Kimberly Gerdes (Bradley) and Kristina Anderson; her cherished grandchildren, Steven Riley Ramsey, Justin Bryce Crowles, Jackie Faith Ramsey, Myra Lucile Ramsey, Cheyenne Marie Anderson, and Kyia May Anderson; and her adorable great-granddaughter, Lilith Rose. Her brother, Marv England, also survives her.

Lucile was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Cowles, her son-in-law, Timothy Anderson, and her adored grandchildren, Nicholas Arnold, Christopher David, and Gabriel Michael. Her memory will be enshrined in the hearts of her family and friends as they continue to be guided by her exceptional love and kindness. Lucile M.
