Linda Banks Obituary

Linda Kay Banks, 77, Bicknell, Indiana, passed away at her home on September 3, 2020.
Linda was born December 30, 1942 to Joseph Franklin and Maud Helen (Fitch) Forbes. She was raised in Washington, Indiana and graduated from Washington High School in 1960. She was a percussionist in the band. On September 19, 1964 she married the love of her life, Larry E. Banks. She was a devoted wife and mother and dedicated her life to taking care of her family and being involved in their activities. She and her husband were involved in the Elks where he was a past exalted ruler. She supported her children’s activities as a room mother, softball coach, Girl Scout leader, Job’s Daughters where she served as Bethel Guardian, church youth leader, and 4-H leader. She continued her 4-H involvement through her grandchildren whom she helped with many projects. She raised her children in the First Baptist Church in Bicknell where she also served on the funeral dinner committee and as a church clerk. For several years, she chaired the Bicknell Labor Day Parade. Linda was a former member of the Bicknell Country Club Ladies’ Golf League, White River Chapter of the D.A.R., and Red Hat Ladies.
In 1983, after many years of being a stay at home mom, Linda went to work at North Knox West Elementary. Linda retired in 1992 after her children had graduated from college.
As time passed and the family grew to include grandchildren, they became her pride and joy. She went to numerous sporting events, concerts, recitals, and everyone knew and loved Memaw.

In later years, she became involved with her family at Word of Life Church where her son-in-law is the minister. She loved to read, watch TV, listen to Bill Gaither videos, and was famous for her pies- always requested for teacher appreciation dinners.
Linda is survived by her children and their spouses: Michael (Laura) Grannan, Bloomington, IN, Larisa (John) Moreland, Bicknell, IN, Lucinda (John) Rodrick, Bruceville, IN; her grandchildren: Alexander (Natalie) Grannan, Caitlin (Matthew) Julian, Emily Moreland, Eleni (Austin) Guoli, Elysa Moreland, John Michael (Nicole) Rodrick, Jayce Rodrick, and Ainsley Rodrick; and her great-

granddaughter Ellsie Julian. She is also survived by her sister Judith Brustkern, a niece Lisa Bland, and a nephew James Quisenberry.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 2, 2002, her daughter Leslie C. Grannan on June 13, 1977, her parents, and a sister, Dr. Nancy Quisenberry.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 10 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Word of Life Church, 7144 N Russell Dr., Bicknell, IN.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at the church on Friday, September 11 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service.  Contributions can be made in her memory to the Word of Life Church Building Fund.  Please honor all Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.fredrickandson.com.
