Leroy August Theodore Pieper
Age 91; Born July 14th, 1931; Passed on October 5, 2022
Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of Julius and Hulda (Tilly) Pieper. Leroy graduated from Freelandville high school and went to college at ISU in Terre Haute. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio Texas initially and then was transferred to Alaska. He met his wife Rachel Waldroup at 4-H camp, and they were married on August 18th, 1951, and enjoyed 59 years of happy married life. Being of German Ancestry, he was always a hard-working talented man with many skills. He worked for over 20 years at Texas Gas Corp. Retiring from Texas Gas, he along with his wife established Pieper’s Carpet, a flooring and wall covering business in downtown Bicknell, initially starting the business out of his garage in Bicknell. He continued working at Pieper’s Carpet until age 89.
He was a member of Bethel Church in Freelandville, IN. He was confirmed there in 1945 and was a 50 plus year member of American Legion.
He loved sharing his own special life stories, playing cards, and his own special witty sense of humor with friends and family.

Grandchildren: Summer (Jon) Williams, Josh (Liza) Holscher, Tanaya (Heath) Titzer, and Trey (Bradlea) Miller
Great-Grandchildren: Ava Williams, Hadley Williams, Mila Williams, Capree Williams,
Clarey Holscher, Hollyn Holscher, Dayne Holscher, Campbell Holscher, Jude Holscher, Thea Titzer, Paxton Miller
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rachel, his sisters: Joan Root, Luella Stodghill, and a Great-Granddaughter Elle Holscher.
There will be a graveside service held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Bethel Church Cemetery 13673 E. St. Rd 58, Edwardsport, IN 47528, with visitation one hour prior to the service also at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Leroy’s memory to the Bethel Church. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
