Leonard R. Chambers

Leonard R. Chambers, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023, in Washington, IN. Born on December 20, 1938 to the late Bernice (Cunningham) Chambers and Russell Chambers, in Bicknell, he spent the majority of his life in the communities of southern Indiana. Throughout his life, Leonard was known for his passion for cars, his love of fishing, and his commitment to his friends, family, and neighbors.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Chambers, his children, Dara Ramsey of Terre Haute, Darrin Chambers of Vincennes, Crystal Phillips and Ashley (Matt) Henson of Flora, IL, Zackery Chambers and Skyler Chambers of Bicknell, IN, and his sister, Rosalie (Jerry) Hooper of Columbus, IN, grandchildren Bennett Henson and Korie Henson.  His large and close-knit family filled his life with love, laughter, and many cherished memories.

Throughout his professional career, Leonard was employed at Rex's Auto Body and later Dean Collision. His expertise in automotive refinishing and body work earned him the respect and admiration of many in the car industry. Leonard also served his country proudly in the United States Army. 

Leonard's passing leaves a significant void in the lives of all who knew him. His gentle and generous spirit, as well as his deep love for his family and friends, will forever be remembered and missed. Friends and family alike will treasure the memories they shared with Leonard, finding solace in the many moments of laughter and warmth that characterized his life.

Services will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm.at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.
