Larry “Chico” Harsha, a man of great kindness, infectious friendliness, and a sense of humor that brightened the lives of many, has peacefully passed away on September 20, 2024, in Vincennes, IN, at the age of 73. Born on March 27, 1951, in Vincennes, Larry spent his lifetime in the community he cherished so deeply, surrounded by family, friends, and the wide-open roads he loved as a dedicated truck driver.
For over five decades, Larry's life and passion were intertwined with the trucking industry, where he was not only recognized for his reliable work ethic but also for the camaraderie and respect he held amongst his peers. A self-proclaimed "road warrior", Larry's career was more than a job; it was a calling that kept him young at heart and filled with stories of the American landscape.
Larry's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement with the Bicknell French Club and his attendance at the Bethel Community Church in Dugger, IN. He believed in the importance of connection, faith, and service, embodying these values in both his personal and professional life.
To say that Larry enjoyed life's simple pleasures would be an understatement. He was a devoted fan of dirt track racing, sharing countless memories with his Uncle Dee at the race tracks. His love for NASCAR was unmatched, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers, surrounded by family and friends. Larry's fondness for western movies, barbecues, and episodes of Matlock and Smokey and the Bandit, were among the many things that brought a smile to his face.
Above all, Larry cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Lunsford (Donald) of Vincennes, IN; his adoring grandchildren: Tersha Lunsford, Destiny Bonner (Ryan), and Bristol Lunsford; and the joyful laughter of his great-grandchildren: Leiland Lunsford, Audrey, Waylon, and Wrenlee Bonner. His siblings Mike Harsha (Mary), Terry Harsha (Kathy), Brenda Bennett (Dan), Linda Evinger, Dennis Harsha, Jackie Joe Bare, Carolyn (Susie) Brawdy Carl, and David Harsha will hold dear their brother's memory.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue “Brochin” Harsha, his stepdaughter, Kathy Randolph, and his parents, Ronald C. and Emily J. “Bear” Harsha, along with his brothers Paul Allen and Ricky Harsha, Larry now joins his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, commitment, and heartfelt connections.
