John York, a man known for his friendly demeanor, kindness, and sense of humor, passed away on June 27, 2024, in Jasper, Indiana surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 14, 1942, in Lawerence County, Illinois, John was a beacon of light to all who knew him throughout his 81 years of life.
A proud graduate of his local high school, John dedicated many years of service to Marathon Oil before enjoying a retirement filled with the joys of hunting and cherished moments with his family. He often found solace walking among nature, finding the beauty in every plant and animal. John will be deeply missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who often played at his feet and enjoyed hearing his stories. His love for his family shone brightly, as did their love for him.
John's memory will live on through his three children, his adored grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by four siblings, two sons, one grandson, and one great-grandson.
John York’s legacy is one of laughter, compassion, and an enduring warmth that deeply touched his family and community. He will be profoundly missed.
