Janice Elaine Dognaux, 76, passed away on the morning of November 27, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital with her husband and three children at her bedside.

Janice was born on May 20, 1944 in Washington, Indiana to John E. and Marjorie (Leonard) Ricks, where her father was a Methodist minister.

Jan attended schools in Washington, Otwell, Bruceville, and graduated high school from Oaktown, Indiana. During her employment career she worked at Security Bank in Oaktown, Indiana, Green Construction in Oaktown, and finally for the North Knox School Corporation where she was Payroll Secretary, and later the school secretary and office manager for the Central Elementary School in Bicknell, Indiana. She was affectionately known by many students and faculty as “Ms. Jan”. People who knew Jan well knew her love of dill pickles.

Janice is survived by her husband Francois (Chuck) Dognaux and children; Jarrod Harvey and Kellijo of Mooresville, Indiana, Libby Miller and Byron of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Bart Harvey of Indianapolis, Indiana; and step-children; Leslie Brown and Vernon of Marshall, Indiana, Chuck Dognaux and Alyssa of Charlestown, Indiana, and Jill Ludlow of Washington, Indiana; and grandchildren: Liz Summers and Bo, Margie Catt and Michael, Katie Boyll and Tyler, Garrett Harvey, Taylor Madison and Makenna Madison: and step-grandchildren; Reid Brown, Meredith Brown, Nicholas Brown, Lucas Dognaux, Reece Dognaux, and Avery Ludlow. Great-grandchildren: Izabelle Agee, Ivy Agee, Isla Agee, Imry Lewis, Cordelia Summers, Ry Catt, William Catt, John T. Catt, Colie Boyll, Jackson Boyll, Piper Boyll, and Dani Boyll. Also surviving is a brother John Ricks; and sisters Judy Miller, Marla Sparks, and Jodie Lucas.

Due to concern over the COVID virus, only a private family service will be conducted on Wednesday December 2 at 11:00 AM at Fredrick & Son McClure - Utt Funeral Homes in Vincennes, Indiana. Pastor Jarrod Chattin will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, the family requests that contributions be made in Jan’s name to the Emison United Methodist Church, c/o Lola Holscher, 8259 E.
