Jack Robbins Obituary

Jack Wayne Robbins, 81, of Carlisle IN, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 16, 1942 to the late Beatrice Gaines Robbins and Donnell Robbins.  He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1960. Jack married his high school sweetheart, the late Ruthann Carrithers, on July 21, 1962. They had four children and many accomplishments in their wonderful 58 years of marriage. Jack was well-known for his easy smile, contagious laugh and the way he made everyone feel special. He was his children, grandchildren, and great grand children’s biggest supporter.  Everyone felt love when “Pappy” was near.  He was a 60 plus year member of Shaker Prairie Christian Church serving as a deacon and past treasure.  He was a member of the Carlisle Odd Fellows and spent many years serving on the cemetery board.

Professionally, Jack was a lifelong farmer, rooted to the land as firmly as the crops he tended. His commitment to agriculture extended beyond his own fields as he served on numerous boards, including the soil and water conservation board for Sullivan County, the Sullivan County fair board, and the 4-H board, among others. He was a guiding force on the Sullivan County growers Co-Op board, the Sullivan County Farm Bureau Board, and dedicated many years as a Haddon Township 4-H leader, influencing future generations.

Jack's love for antique farm equipment spoke to his reverence for the past and the simpler times. When he wasn't with his family or tending his land, he could often be found playing a strategic hand of euchre or proudly taking his children to livestock shows.

The legacy Jack Wayne Robbins leaves behind is a testament to a life richly lived and loved. His impact on his family, friends, and the community of Carlisle will continue to resonate, warming the hearts of those he touched.

Jack is survived by wife, Donna Hale Robbins, his children, Crystal Palmer (Steve), Paul Robbins (Lauren), Nina Cribbs (Andrew), and Lana Powell (Brent Hislip), his bonus daughter, Deena Wright (Daniel), and bonus son, David Hale (Olivia). His passion for family extended to his cherished grandchildren – Jessica (Matt) Palmer, May (Brian) Howard, Emily (Jon) Largent, Levi Palmer (Maddy), Seth Robbins, Blake Robbins, Jacob Cribbs, Brenna Cribbs, Cian Cribbs, Hannah (Jon) Harris, Madison (Evan) Powell, and Jake Powell – and to his bonus-grandchildren – Dathan, Morgan, Sophia, David Jr., Serena, and Dakota. His legacy will also live on with 8 great-grandchildren.  Jack was the brother to his caring sisters, Sharon Pigg, Betty Robbins, and Lois Robbins, who remain to honor his memory.  He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters.
