Irma Rose Westfall, 93, of Ragsdale, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at Vincennes, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. Born on September 28, 1932, in Lawrence County, Illinois, to the late Rose Doll Ryder and George Ryder, Irma was a shining example of strength and compassion to all who knew her.
In 1950, Irma celebrated her graduation from St. Rose, marking the commencement of a life filled with hard work and service. She found purpose and pride in her work, dedicating years of service to Gossards and later to Hamilton Glass, where her commitment to excellence was evident in all her endeavors.
Irma's caring nature extended far beyond her professional life; she was the bedrock of her family. She cherished spending time with her only grandchild, Cory Abel, and his wife Nicole of Vincennes, and she had a remarkable bond with her, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, whose visits would light up her world. She was a loving sister to Mary Glass of Vincennes and Agnes Painter of Claremont, Illinois. Irma will be deeply missed by her numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored as her own. Her love for her family was unending, even as she bid farewell to her beloved husband William, her dear sons, Mark and Greg, and her brother John Ryder, who preceded her in death.
A lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Irma's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived her faith through acts of kindness and her unwavering support for her community. Known for her green thumb, Irma found solace in gardening, watching her plants, and the beauty of nature thrive under her care. She was a familiar face at local yard sales, always on the hunt for treasures, and imparting joy and warmth to those she interacted with.
Irma's love for canning brought the taste of summer to many cold winter nights, and many will fondly remember her innate ability to nurture everyone around her. A testament to her caring spirit was the joy she felt in watching her grandson Cory embark on fishing adventures, absorbing the tranquility of the outdoors, and creating lasting memories.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date and Irma will be laid to rest at Bicknell Memorial Gardens. You may leave online condolences and fond memories at www.fredrickandson.com.
