Helen C. (Cooper) Mackey

Helen Alice Cooper Mackey passed away on Sunday morning, May 7th, 2023.  She was the youngest daughter of Minard and Gladys Risinger Cooper of Carlisle, IN.  Born November 30, 1927.  Married March 12, 1948 to Maurice B. Mackey of Bicknell, IN.  Graduated from Carlisle High School and Vincennes Business College in 1945.  She was a secretary and retired from Vincennes University.  She loved music and played both piano and organ.  Her hobbies were crocheting, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles.  She made numerous shawls for the prayer shawl group of Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette, IN.  She belonged to the Bicknell Fortnightly Club, Washington Chapter 210 Order of Eastern Star, Bethel Church of Freelandville, IN, and Delta Theta Tau.
Preceded in death by; parents, husband, sons Bruce A. Mackey and Dr. Meid C. Mackey, brothers Charles and Paul Cooper, and sister Ruth Cooper Folck.  Survived by; sons Dr. Kent Mackey (wife Julie) of Florida, IN and Neil Mackey (wife Lesly) of West Lafayette, IN, eight grandchildren – Laura Coppola (husband Aaron) of Waldo, FL, Ali Anderson (husband Phillip) of Evansville, IN, Brent Mackey (wife Amber) of Fort Wayne, IN, Erick Mackey of Fort Wayne, IN, SSG Morgan Mackey (wife Debra) of North Pole, AK, Tyler Mackey (wife Liz) of GA, Kiera Mackey (husband Derek) of Fowler, IN, and Colt Mackey, also seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  A funeral service for Helen will be Thursday May 11, 2023 1P.M. At the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Bicknell Chapel with calling from 11 A.M.  until the time of the service. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.fredrickandson.com.
