Harold Lee Glass Jr., a treasured and jovial soul, left this world at the age of 88, on August 21, 2024, in his cherished hometown of Vincennes, IN. Born to Harold Lee Glass Sr. and Mary Lucille "Cockerham" Glass on May 12, 1936, in the very same city, Harold's life came full circle as he passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family in Vincennes.
Harold's life was one marked by unwavering love and dedication. On January 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Mary "Ryder" Glass, in Bicknell, IN. Their union was blessed with laughter, joy, and three wonderful children: Carol L. Halter, John R. Glass, and the late David A. Glass. Harold took immense pride in his family, always providing a firm foundation and extending his warm, fatherly love to his grandchildren—Jeff, Michael, Matthew, Catrina, T.J., Kevin, and Karen—and his cherished great-grandchildren Christa, Logan, and Lucy.
A proud graduate of his local high school, Harold served his country in the Navy before embarking on a fulfilling career with Prestolite Battery, eventually retiring from Johnson Controls. His strong work ethic and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Harold's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life's simple pleasures. His voice was often heard over CB radios; his hands skillfully tended to his garden; and his relaxation found its perfect match in fishing. Country music could always be found playing in the background of memorable family gatherings, where Harold's humor and playful spirit were the heartbeat of joyous celebrations.
A devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Harold's faith was a guiding light in his life, shaping the loving and funny man known by many. His membership in the American Legion was a testament to his continued commitment to community and brotherhood long after his military service.
Harold's journey through life was shared by those he sadly leaves behind: his adoring wife, Mary; his devoted children, Carol and John; his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a close-knit community of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his dear son David, and his brothers, Robert David, William Bill, and Russell Keith Glass.
In his passing, Harold's cherished traits of love, friendliness, and humor remain alive in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of laughter, resilience, and affection will continue to inspire and comfort us all. Harold Lee Glass Jr. lived life to the fullest, and for that, he will never be forgotten.
