Elsie M Jones

Elsie M. Jones, 84, of Carlisle, passed away July 19, 2019, at Oak Village Nursing Home. She was born on, December 13, 1935, in Clark County Illinois, the daughter of Merrill and Bess (Hood) Snedeker.  In November of 1958 She married Orval E. Jones and he preceded her in death.

Elsie graduated from Marshall High School class of 1954, she had worked at the Selective Service Office and WTWO Channel 2 News. Elsie was and avid IU fan and loved collecting lighthouses and playing Bunco and Bingo, she was also a member of the Bunco Club. 

Elsie is survived by her children; Carol Painter of Coral Springs Florida, Joyce (Joe) Pugh of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Merrill (Carol) Jones of Cory Indiana, Phyllis Smashey Jones of Rome Georgia, Greg Jones of Brazil, Indiana and Jennifer(Tim) Ridgway of Carlisle Indiana. Her sisters Marilyn Snedeker, Abbie (Harold) Truelove all of Marshall, Illinois and Betty Switzer of Chrisman Illinois, 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Ann Perry.

Funeral services will be on, Wednesday July 24, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Oaktown Chapel, 100 W. Main St. Oaktown Indiana 47561. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 23, 2019 from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Carlisle Oddfellows Cemetery.
