Elizabeth Wavoline (Davis) Ragsdale, age 103, changed her address to a mansion at 316 John Street in Heaven on April 21, 2025. Born on October 3, 1921, to Othmar and Edna (Remmel) Davis, Elizabeth was one of eight children.
She learned a strong sense of family commitment and hard work from the early age of five, making biscuits for the family breakfast and doing “chores” around the house and farm. Elizabeth had a love for gardening; her rose garden on Walnut Street was a showstopper for a passerby.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1940, and on December 22 of that year, she married the love of her life, Forrest McLoyd Ragsdale (died 1986). They had four sons: Teddy (died at birth), Nickey (2008), James (died at birth), and Roger (2004).
Elizabeth was blessed with and survived by four grandchildren who loved her deeply and will cherish memories of growing up with her and Forrest: Ricky Ray (Maria) Ragsdale, Janice Darlene (Ben) Markley, Marty (Paula Winter) Ragsdale, Carmen (Larry) Whorrall, a devoted daughter-in-law, Serria Sue (Jim) Crane, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Othmar and Edna (Remmel) Davis, brothers, Donald Davis, Norman Davis, Roy Davis, Ray Albert, her sisters, Barbara, Dorothy, and Joyce, her husband, Forrest, and her sons, Teddy, Nicky, James, and Roger.
Visitation will be held at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Funeral service will begin immediately after visitation, officiated by Danny Gilley, with internment following at Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Mark Davis, Ronald Boyd, Rick Ragsdale, Marty Ragsdale, Randy Brenton, and Ryan Brenton. Honorary bearers will include Ben Markley, Tony Davis, Doug Crow, Kenny Bromn, and Tom Michaels.
