Donald W. Scott, 88 of Vincennes went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 15 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on August 28,1934 in Bicknell to Albert & Freda Scott.
He graduated from Bicknell High School and served in the Army for 2 years. He returned to Bicknell where he started in the grocery business and became manager of Lucky Dollar. He managed Scott’s Red & White for many years and worked at other grocery stores and worked until the age of 86 at JayC’s in Vincennes. He was a member of the Vincennes Church of the Nazarene. He had a love for sports and was a tried and true St. Louis Cardinal fan and Indiana University basketball fan. He shared of many trips to St. Louis to watch them play. His love was his family and he enjoyed time with his kids and grandkids and their activities. For many years he enjoyed weekly game time with his family – a very special tradition. He was always the official score keeper up until a week ago.
He is survived by; Carolan, his wife of 40 years, the love of his life and his best friend; daughters, Sondra Tewell of Oaktown, Lori (Mike) Sparks of Olalla, Washington, and Carol ( Ed) Voloshen of Sioux City, Iowa,;bonus children, Cathy (Jimmy) Brown of Vincennes, Gina (Deltus) Mullen of Greenfield, & Steven Degley of Vincennes. He is survived by his grandchildren Jasmine (Jay Lewis) Scott, Brandon (Rachel Inboden) Burress, Andrew (Ashley) Catt, Aaron Catt, Eddie Voloshen, Ella Voloshen, Gabrielle Mullen, Garrett Mullen, Ron Allen Charlton, Rachetta Charlton, Damon Kemp, Dustin Kemp, & Jonah Degley; thirteen great-grandchildren, sister Margaret Hart, sister-in-law Jeanette Scott; and many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by; his parents, brothers Harold, Ralph, Paul & Lloyd, and sisters Mary Cradick & Kathleen Pack.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17 from 11-1 at First Baptist Church in Bicknell immediately followed by a service to be conducted by Pastor Donnie Stamper. Burial will follow at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with Donald’s arrangements.
