David Bass Obituary

David Leo Bass, age 78, of Fort Branch formerly of Vincennes, Indiana, a revered husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, in Fort Branch, Indiana at his home. Born on March 3, 1946, in Vincennes, he was a son to the late Barnett Bass and Frances Miller Bass, and a constant source of love and strength to his family.

On the beautiful summer's day of July 5, 1967, David united in marriage with Gloria Kay Fowler Bass, forging a partnership of love and dedication that would endure for nearly six decades. Together they raised a family filled with warmth and laughter, including their two children, son Tim Bass (Lisa) of Carmi, IL, and daughter Teresa Bass Lawhead (Tom) of Columbus, IN. David's joy grew even more as he became a grandfather of five and then a great-grandfather to three.

David is fondly remembered by his loving sister Esther Shaner (Ron) of Panama City, Florida. His memory will be treasured in the hearts of those who preceded him in rest: including his parents and siblings Augusta Biggs, Daisy Walker, Rose Sanders, Carrie Stroud, Barnett Bass, Chester Bass, and John Bass.

A dedicated professional, David lent his skills as a tool and die maker to Deluxe Industries for 35 years. His workmanship was not merely a job but a craft that he honed with pride and precision. David embraced life with a variety of hobbies. In his early years, his passion included playing softball, harvesting mussels, hunting, and fishing. These activities spoke for his love of the great outdoors. Later in life, he found pleasure in long walks all around town with his dogs and going to the local casinos to enjoy their versions of video poker, hobbies that reflected his ongoing zest for life.

David's gentle spirit and integrity have shaped the lives of those he loved. His legacy of kindness, determination, and humor lives on. A life lived so well deserves to be remembered forever. David Leo Bass will be deeply missed, but his impact on others will live on for generations.
