Cynthia Sue Utt, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and caring touched the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on May 4, 1960 in Vincennes, Cindy resided in Oaktown and was an active member of community that she eventually filled with her kindness as an adult; Cindy remained a beacon of light throughout the community for her 65 years.
From her early days, Cindy demonstrated a remarkable capacity for compassion, a virtue instilled in her by her loving parents, Carolyn Sue Finke Utt and the late Gordon Earl Utt. Cindy's spirit of generosity would shine throughout her life, guiding her path and influencing those around her. She was a loving sister to Grant Utt of Vincennes and Susan Utt of Owensville, who will carry memories of her vivacious personality and unwavering support.
Cindy took pride in her role as a nurturing aunt to her niece, Macey Rosario (Angel) of Jensen Beach, Florida. Her influence extended to her aunts and uncles, particularly Larry Donovan (Rita) of Vincennes, and Margaret Utt of Oaktown, as well as to her five cousins who admired her greatly. Cynthia’s memory will also be cherished by her special friends, Triston and Lexie Burke, who stood by her side through thick and thin.
Cindy's professional life was marked by her unwavering commitment to caregiving. Her natural inclination to look after others led her to a rewarding career where she provided comfort and support to those in need. Her dedication to her work was a true reflection of her generous spirit and loving heart.
A faithful member of the First Christian Church of Oaktown, Cindy found strength and community in her faith. It was a pillar that not only sustained her but also led her to serve others with a gracious and gentle hand.
Sports brought Cindy joy and excitement, whether it was cheering for her favorite teams, the Colts and Pacers, or reminiscing about her own glory days playing basketball in high school. Her passion for athletics was more than just a hobby; it was a way of connecting with people and sharing in the thrill of competition and camaraderie. Cindy was a 1978 graduate of North Knox.
Cindy’s legacy of sweetness and altruism is further marked by the memory of her beloved maternal grandparents, Carl and Helen Finke, and paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Utt, with whom she now rests. She is also reunited with her father, Gordon, and two uncles, each of whom had a formative role in her life.
To know Cindy was to know kindness personified. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life lived with love, a life that will continue to inspire and guide us. Cindy Sue Utt will be dearly missed but her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
