Carolyn Ruth McCarter 80, of Oaktown, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Carolyn was born on May 2, 1942 in Vincennes, IN to the late Hilda Gibbs DeSchamp and Forrest DeSchamp.
Carolyn was a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus. Carolyn was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working as a cook for the Dutchman Cafe and enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, the Waltons, Gaither Gospel Band, traveling, preparing large family meals, and flowers. Carolyn attended Mariah Creek Church. Those left to mourn the loss of Carolyn are; children, Jamie Grover (Lorraine) of Poway, CA. Brian Grover (Kylee) of Switz City, IN.Kathy McCrary (Gary) of Freelandville, IN. Karen Ray (Randy) of Loogootee, IN, Stan McCarter of Decker, IN. Steve McCarter of Bloomfield, IN. Nancee Nicol (Bill) of Carlisle, IN. Christina Nelson (David) Cloverdale, IN. Nicholas McCarter (Donna) of Loogootee, IN; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Bruce DeSchamp of Oaktown,IN. Sharon Simpson (Don) of Oaktown, and David DeSchamp (Marsha) of Princeton, IN. She was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Joe McCarter; three sisters, Shirley Abrams, Mary Flaningam, and Wanda Mae DeSchamp; a brother, Jon DeSchamp; a grandchild, Ethan Hayes; and a great-grandchild, Daisy Reanea Nicol.
Visitation for Carolyn will be held at the Bicknell Memorial Gardens (Bicknell Memorial Cemetery) on Monday February 27, 2023 from 9am to 11amwith a service immediately following with Richard Stewart officiating in the cemetery’s mausoleum chapel.
