Carolyn June (Heiser) Kness Obituary

Carolyn June (Heiser) Kness, 88, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 in Vincennes, IN, with her daughter Wanda Whittington at her side.

 She was born on December 23, 1935 in Zion, IL in her lifelong home to Dan and Eleanor (Kratz) Heiser. Carolyn married  E. James Kness in March 1956. She enjoyed her many years as a school librarian at Shiloh Park school, was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church (formerly Christian Catholic Church) in Zion, IL and was an active member of American Legion for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda (the late Dan) Whittington, LuAnn (Terry) Whittington; son, James Kness; grandchildren, Danny, Michael, Nicole, Brian, Jason, Tara, Ed, Aleigha, Elliott, and Annalise; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, E. James Kness; daughter Cheryl (Ron) Stare; parents, Dan and Eleanor Heiser; sister Arlene Christenson; Aunt Christina Heiser; son-in-law Dan Whittington; and great-granddaughter Olivia Whittington. 

She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 19, 2024.
