Carole Jean Poland was called Home by her Heavenly Father on August 23, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1942, one of four children, to Logan and Ada Mae (Singleton) Hobson in Washington, Indiana. She married her husband, Marvin Poland, on April 16, 1976. They shared 44 loving years together before his passing on December 12, 2020.
Carole was a graduate of Washington High School. She was happiest when her home was full of family. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Marvin. Carole worked at the Department of Children and Family Services in Washington and at Suttle Equipment Company in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was a volunteer at Washington Community Hospital and was a believer in her Christian faith.
Carole is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Poland; her father Logan Hobson; her mother Ada Mae (Singleton) Hobson; her sister Sue Alberti; her sister Nancy Soliday; her grandson, Bryan Bouchie; and her son-in-law, Steve Bouchie.
Carole is survived by her brother Michael Hobson; son Gus Waggoner (Rea Goffinet) of Montgomery, Texas; daughter Lisa Bouchie of Washington; daughter Debora Poland of Concord, North Carolina; son Scott F. Poland (Leila) of Powhatan, Virginia; daughter Carla Gray (Mark) of Edgewater, New Jersey; son Toby E. Poland (Colleen) of Concord, North Carolina; grandchildren Corey Bouchie (Terri) of Washington, Carey Bouchie (Daniel Ash) of Washington, Cheryl Furr (Joshua) of Albemarle, North Carolina, Nick Waggoner of Washington, Joshua Poland of Powhatan, Miranda Elliot (Jeff) of Cumberland, Virginia, Jonathan Poland of Powhatan, Jared Poland of Powhatan, Tommi Poland of Concord, North Carolina, Logan Sweet of Edgewater, Michael Gray of Edgewater, and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial visitation on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home with a service immediately following at 1:00 PM also at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Watson officiating.
