Barbara E. (Bottoms) Hess

Barbara (Bottoms) Hess, 86 of Vincennes, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Barbara was born on September 20, 1936 in Vincennes to the late Barbara (Shepherd) Bottoms and Aubrey Bottoms.

Barbara was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and ABWA. She married Joseph Hess in Vincennes on May 18, 1957. Barbara enjoyed arts, crafts, and crocheting. She joined Home Federal in 1955 as a teller, and was an assistant secretary before retirement.

Those left to mourn the loss of Barbara are; children, Vickie (Hess) Palmer of Vincennes, Patrick Hess of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Ashley (Palmer) Engle of Zionsville, Jeremy Besse-Hess of Irvine, CA, Laura (Palmer) Sweeney of Zionsville; great-grandchildren, Adeline and Brooks Engle, of Zionsville, Jackson and William Sweeney of Zionsville, and Daniel Grimes of Huntsville, AL.

Barbara was preceded in death by, her loving husband, Joseph Hess; parents, Barbara and Aubrey Bottoms; a half-brother, Jack Bottoms; a granddaughter;  Bethany (Palmer)Grimes.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at St.John’s Catholic Church at 12:00 P.M. with Father Tony Ernst officiating a visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral mass. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The family welcomes online condolences to be left at www.fredrickandson.com.
