Shirley A Cardinal

Mrs. Shirley A. Cardinal 84, of Vincennes, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Shirley was born June 19, 1935 in Sullivan Co. to the late Charles and Ruby (Pigg) Meier. She was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School and owned and operated Cardinal Liquor Store for twenty-one years. 

Shirley was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was very active in preparing bereavement meals. She was a kind soul who found joy in helping others. Shirley was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bunco Group (which she founded in 1955), and Euchre players of the K of C.

Shirley leaves behind; her loving husband of 64 years, Dale Cardinal; two sons, both of Vincennes, Edward Cardinal (Jody), Rick Cardinal (Sherri); and a daughter, Tammy Bilskie (Ronnie) of Vincennes; grandchildren, Derek Cardinal, Brant Cardinal and Jaime Greer, Brock Cardinal, Rebecca Wonning,Ty and Jared DeBuisseret, Brandon and Ben Bilskie; and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Polarek; and two brothers, Charles Meier (Dixie) and Tom Meier (Sue).

Shirley was preceded in death by; two sisters, Marjorie Thomas and Shelby Cardinal.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Tony Ernst and Deacon Clete Yochum officiating at St. John’s Catholic Church, 803 Main St. Vincennes, IN. The family will accept guests from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
