Ronnie D Detty

Ronnie D. Detty, 65, of Bicknell, passed away March 21, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Ronnie was born April 24, 1951, in Vincennes, the son of Clarence L and Doris M (Conrad) Detty. He married Shelley Crouse on January 17, 2015 in Bicknell.  He retired from the United States Army and served with the 101st and 82nd Airborne with two tours to Vietnam.   Ronnie also worked for Gemtron and as a guard for work release in Knox County. He was a member of the VFW Post 1167, American Legion Post 73, and the Bruceville Rod and Gun Club. Ronnie enjoyed guns, hunting, and attending gun and knife shows.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Shelley, of Bicknell; children, Maureen Henson of Salem, IL, Colleen Detty of Vincennes, Robin Pierson and her husband John of Russelville, IL; Ronica Newkirk and her husband Nathan of Craig, CO; brothers Lucky Detty of Elletsville, IN, Tony Detty and wife Mary of Vincennes, Dusty Detty and wife Patty of Poseyville, IN, Scooter, Thumper and Tater; sister Claudia Myers of Bicknell; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents;  two sisters  and former spouse Doris. Friends may visit from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 1:30 PM also at the funeral home with John Clark officiating. He will be laid to rest at Bruceville Cemetery.
