Rita A Buck

Rita Alexis Buck (nee Jordan), 71, of Freelandville, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in a motor vehicle accident with her husband and partner in life, John B. Buck.  She was born on March 16, 1948 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel A. and Leona L. (Ellermann) Jordan.  She grew up in Decker, graduating from Decker High School in 1966.  She married John, the love of her life, in August of 1966.

Rita worked in catering, using her considerable culinary skills, and was later a homemaker.  She was most importantly a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a kind and gentle spirit with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, baking (her chocolate buttermilk cookie cake as well as her chicken and noodles were favorites of family and friends alike), gardening, reading, playing mahjong, and doting on her pets.

Rita is survived by her three adoring children, Christopher (Jamie) Buck, Shannon (Darren) Buck-Lacey, and Jordan (Natalie) Buck, grandchildren Taylor, Ethan, Caiden, and Greyson, her sister, Janice K. Jordan, seven nephews, and three nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Judith A. (Jordan) McAllister.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel, 109 E. 6th St., Bicknell, Indiana. A private interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 405 Main St., Vincennes, Indiana 47591.
