Karen Leah “Abell” Burr, 62 of Oaktown, was tragically called home at 12:27 P.M. on Thursday, December, 19, 2019 as the result of an auto accident.
Karen was born in Vincennes to the late Della Marie Stanley Phegley and Thomas Lynn Abell on July 15, 1957. She was a cook at the Oak Village Nursing Home, MOD at Fox Ridge Assisted Living, and was a cook for Dyball’s Truck Stop. Karen was a member of Followers of Christ Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading her Bible. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved dogs.
Karen is survived by; her two sisters, Paulette Perkinson (Ronald) of Carlisle, Lyndal Harvey (Randy) of Oaktown;; step-brothers, David and Steve Phegley; long-time friend, Ann Volle of Carlisle, several nieces, nephews; and several great nieces and nephews; and her two dogs, Rowdy and Spencer;
She was preceded in death by; her parents; step-father, Jason Nash Phegley; husband, Dale Burr; and a nephew, J.T. Harvey.
There will be a funeral service, on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Oaktown First Christian Church, 103 School St. 47561 with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Carlisle Oddfellows Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Oaktown Food Pantry, 103 School St. Oaktown, IN 47561, or the Brian Harris Scholarship Fund1671 E.
