Julia Marchino Obituary

Julia Ann “Julie” Marchino, 55, Vincennes passed away Tuesday November 13, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville after a brief illness. Julie was born November 24, 1962 the oldest daughter of John N and Margaret Ann (Wathen) Marchino. She was a 1981 graduate of South Knox High School and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the school of Public and Environmental Affairs from her beloved Indiana University.
Julie was raised on the homestead that was settled by her great-great-great grandparents, Peter and Mary Marchino in the 1840s. Julie loved her family dearly and enjoyed studying the family genealogy. In the past she would hop in the truck, accompanied by our mother, and investigate cemeteries for missing pieces of the family tree puzzle. Because of this, she had become a member of the DAR.
Julie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary, and the IU Alumni Association and an avid IU fan. She was a member of the NRA and a member of the Brothers of Bluegrass Fan Club.
Julie was a staunch supporter of and advocate for Vincennes Catholic Schools Rivet Athletics and Christian Education Foundation. She served in various roles with CEF including most recently President. She enjoyed those times with CEF and writing for and helping put together the Legacy magazine for CEF and the Catholic schools.
Always thinking of others before herself, she was caregiver and protector to many. Julie was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
Julie is survived by her sister Marilyn (Tom) Westfall of Vincennes, a brother John C. (Lori) Marchino of Vincennes, nephews; John Lee (Shelby Jo) Marchino, Curt (Shelby) Marchino of Vincennes and Nathan Westfall of Michigan and one niece
Margaret “Maggie” Westfall of Vincennes. Many loving aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ed Marchino.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev Donald Ackerman and Rev Jason Gries officiating. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10 AM until the time of Mass. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Education Foundation.
