Jerry Edward Williams

Jerry Edward Williams, 80, of Freelandville, passed away with family by his side at Good Samaritan Hospital on February 18, 2018. He was born July 28, 1937, in Iowa, to Benjamin and Effie Williams. He married Sue Ann DeCoursey on February 1, 1959. Jerry was a graduate of Freelandville High School in 1955. He was a member of Morris Chapel Church. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1958 and in the Army Reserves until 1961. Jerry was a farmer, semi-truck driver, coal miner and a Peewee and Little League coach. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, IU basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and taking his RV for camping trips.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue Ann; children, Teresa (Ray) Hatton, Tim Williams, Tony Williams and Ted (Jennifer) Williams; grandchildren, Shannon (Eric) Green, Brock Lents, Nolan (Sara) Williams, Daniel (Tristan) Hatton, Zack Williams, Nathan Williams and Andy Williams; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Layla, Sadie and Jay’ Lynn Williams, Brantley Wise, Katie and Connor Green, Sam and Caroline Hatton; siblings, Doris Richter, Sharon Jones and Sam (Patty) Williams; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Williams.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Williams; an infant grandson, Alec Williams; sister, Lois (Harris) Hyllested; brother, Gene Williams; brother-in-laws, Chad Jones and Oscar Richter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Pastors Kathy Stephens and Mike DeCoursey at Morris Chapel Church.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Morris Chapel Cemetery.
