Herbert Frederick Grabbe

Herbert Frederick “Herb” Grabbe, 88, Freelandville, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Herb was born August 22, 1929, in Freelandville, the son of Louis and Martha (Sager) Grabbe. He married Margie Anna Hall on July 1, 1951. He retired from Crane after 32 years working as an automotive and diesel mechanic. He served in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1949.
Herb is survived by his children, Robert Grabbe of Bicknell, Mary (Michael) Romeo of Vincennes, Richard Grabbe of Louisville, IL, and Terri (Harley) Irvin of Effingham, IL; grandchildren, Robert (Heather) French, Justin (Traci) French, Heather (Raymond) Rosch, Miranda (Rocky) Brandon, Brandy (Clay) Harting, and Eric (Chelci) Irvin; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Newell of Greenfield, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie on January 22, 2004; grandson, Jerrod French; brothers, Milton and Melvin Grabbe; and daughter-in-law, Donna Grabbe.   
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM (EDT) at Bethel Church with Pastor Mike DeCoursey officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (EDT)with a masonic service beginning at 7:00 PM also at Bethel Church. He will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Church.
