Charles (Charlie) H Wakelam

Charles H. "Charlie" Wakelam, Jr., 65, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born on September 14, 1953 in Beech Grove, Indiana, the son of the late Charles H. Wakelam, Sr. and Clara (Stangle) Wakelam.  Charlie graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1972 and was Catholic.  He worked at the family business, Wakelam Lumber in Vienna, Indiana, liked working on and restoring old boats and hanging out with his friends at Grover Stacy's Store.   Survivors include his companion of 28 years, Julia "Julie" Barger of Austin, Indiana; a brother: John R. Wakelam (Karen) of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Carol  E. Neely (Curt) of Huntsville, Alabama and Sara A. Sayler (Rob) of Edmond, Oklahoma; Julie's two children and grandchildren, Jodi Baker (Joe) and Angela Crawford and Erin and Matt and several nieces and nephews.  Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Vincennes, Indiana.  Visitation: 11 am to 1 pm on Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and after 9 am Saturday at St. Thomas Catholic Church.  Interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana.
