Charles Vash Obituary

Charles Ray “Charlie” Vash, 79, Bicknell, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at his residence. Charlie was born April 28, 1939, in Bicknell, the son of George and Alena (George) Vash. A 1957 Bruceville High School graduate, he owned and operated Vash Electronics, then was a self-employed computer repairman. He was known for his exceptional musical talent as a saxophone player and played in many bands locally. The latest being Shawn and Charlie that played in nursing homes in the surrounding areas. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Bicknell Elks, the French Club, and Vincennes VFW Post 1157. He served in the United States Air Force as a radar technician, having attained the rank of Airman First Class.
Charlie is survived by his children, Andrea (Steve) Hart of Bicknell, George (DeAnna) Vash of Bicknell, Monica (Billy) Smith of Bruceville, C.J. Vash of Burbank, CA and Michael (Ann) Vash of Vincennes; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, George Vash of Bicknell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Charlie’s request, he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
