Sharon E. Mackey

Sharon E. (Boyles, Stephens, Alexander) Mackey, 72 of Bicknell, passed away August 28, 2017 at her home in Bicknell after a heroic battle of brain cancer. 

Sharon was born on March 10, 1945, the daughter of the late Arthur and Doris Geraldine "Gerry" Boyles. She graduated from Bruceville High School in 1963 and spent 42 years as a teacher’s aide fulfilling her dream of working with children for the North Knox School Corporation. 

She was an active member of the Bicknell First Baptist Church. Sharon was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She enjoyed her trips to the beach with her close friends and bringing shells to all her students. 

Sharon was also preceded in death by her husbands, Eddie Stephens, Larry Alexander, and one brother Gordon Boyles. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Myron Mackey of Bicknell; a daughter Sherry Stephens, Bruceville, IN; son, Michael (Tammy) Stephens, Collins, GA, Step Children; Paul (Bette) Mackey, Bicknell, IN, Jason Barnett, Vincennes, IN, Natalie Hornback, Sullivan, IN, Nathan Mackey, Bicknell, IN, Lena (Joshua) Wichman, Newburgh, IN, Luke (Brittany) Mackey, Bloomington, IN and Benjamin Mackey and fiancé Jonna Stephens, Bicknell, IN. 

Sharon’s heart was full of many grandchildren, Candace and Adam Stephens, Moriah, Isaiah, Josiah, Jeremiah Mackey, Austin, Jedaiah, Jazzman Barnett; Abigail (Jake) Foster, Garrett and Nicholas Hornback; Joel Mackey, Lexis Collins, Kaleb Dilley, Addison Stevens, Ethan Wichman; and Levi and Brody Mackey. There are also two great-grandchildren, Aleigha Barnett and Matthew Foster. Also surviving are her brother, Donald (Susan) Boyles, Bruceville, IN; and sister-in-law, Susan Boyles, Indianapolis, IN; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and spouses. 

Friends and relatives are invited and may call at the Bicknell First Baptist Church, Friday, September 1st from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be held Saturday, September 2nd at the church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Bruceville Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kid’s First Foundation or the Bruceville Cemetery.
