Linda (Miller) Hammelman, 80, Edwardsport, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Daviess Community Hospital. Linda was born July 2, 1937, in Vincennes, the daughter of Lyle E. and Philomena (Costanzo) Miller. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955, then went on to Indiana State University and later, graduated from Governor’s State University. She directed the Head Start Program in Greene County in the 1960’s. After returning to Vincennes in 1969, she was an employment counselor for 10 years, then taught Adult Basic Education at Vincennes University until her retirement. She married Edgar D. Hammelman on November 24, 1984. Linda was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Vincennes University Society, Vincennes Education Foundation, the Vincennes Fort Nightly Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Linda is survived by her husband, Edgar D. Hammelman of Edwardsport; step-children, Cathy Justice of Dawson, IL, Gary Hammelman of Vincennes, Paul (Lisa) Hammelman of Belmar, NJ and Dr. Jason (Dr. Christie) Hammelman of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, Matthew Justice, Catherine Justice, Jennifer Hammelman, Rachel Hammelman, Emma Hammelman, Leah Hammelman and Maya Hammelman; brother, David L. (Jerilyn) Miller of Vincennes; sister, Marlane (Jack) Morris of Wichita, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Hannah Hammelman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mike DeCoursey and Rev. Dave Fleck officiating at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.
