Katherine K. (Kartsonis) Ridgway

Katherine (Kartsonis) Ridgway, 92, Bicknell, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Katherine was born July 8, 1924, in Vincennes, the daughter of George and Arilla (Warth) Kartsonis. A 1943 graduate of Decker High School, she married Robert I. Ridgway at the Pimento United Methodist Church on March 28, 1948. During World War II, she worked for Republic Aircraft helping build P47 airplanes. She was a hairdresser and owned Kate’s Klip and Kurl. Katherine also knitted newborn hats for the Good Samaritan Hospital nursery. She liked to go camping with her husband, children and friends.She was a member of the Bicknell United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Tau past president, Order of Eastern Star #211 and the Red Hat Society.
Katherine is survived by her children, Georgia Wampler, Jim (Denise) Ridgway and Tanya (Jim) Dotson, all of Bicknell; grandchildren, Kent Wampler, Keith Wampler, Kathy Martin, Alyssa Witsken, Kaitlin Dotson and Brett Ridgway; and great-grandchlidren, Dylan Ellis, DJ Wampler, Kyndall Martin and Melina Witsken.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on April 20, 2003; parents; sisters, Sarah Barnes and Francis Hoke; brother, Earl Vetra; and son-in-law, Joe Wampler.
Friends may visit Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Bicknell United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Rundel and Rev. Joe Kamman officiating.
