Karl Leroy Phipps 77, Vincennes, passed away June 6, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Karl was born September 19, 1939, in Clay City, the son of Edgar Simon and Blanche Marie (Sandoe) Phipps. He married Viola Irene Richards on April 2, 1962. He retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in housekeeping. He was in the United States Army. Karl loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and fishing.
Karl is survived by his wife, Viola of Vincennes; son, Karl Phipps of Princeton; daughters, Carol Eakins of Vincennes, Tammy Miles of Vincennes and Tina (Shawn) Diech of Huntingburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lorene Matthew of NC, Phyllis McNeal of Florida and Helen (Reggie) Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Eddie Phipps.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.fredricknandson.com.
