Evelyn Margaret McMahon

April 19, 1925 ~ July 30, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Evelyn Margret McMahon of Vincennes, went to be with her Lord and Savior, with her family at her side, on Sunday, July 30, 2017.  

 

Evelyn was born in Bicknell on April 19, 1925, to Virgil and Minnie (Ferando) Nomady.  She lived all but the last 10 years of her life in Bicknell and then moved in with her daughter, Kimberly and son-in-law Merle Moore, of Vincennes.   

 

Evelyn married the love of her life, James Wm. (Bill) McMahon on Jan. 20, 1945. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly and her husband, her Grandson Eric & Chelsea Moore and great-granddaughters, Mauriana & Gabriela Moore, who were the true joys of her life.  A nephew, William Lawrence Campbell of Littleton, CO; and cousin Mervin ( Georgia "Dee") Nomady of Bicknell.

 

Evelyn, a graduate of Indiana State University was a teacher, 1st in VSC and then in the NKS. Corp.  She taught 1st and 2nd grades & was very passionate about her profession; loving all of her children deeply. Evelyn also taught Sunday School and served as S.S Supt. at the First Baptist Church before transferring her membership back to the United Methodist Church in Bicknell. She was a member of Eastern Star, and was also involved for many years with Delta Theta Tau serving as the President, and since the early 1960's she organized a Bunco group of which she was still an active member.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on November 5, 2008; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Campbell Bittourna.

 

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00am at the Bicknell United Methodist Church with Pastor John Morland officiating.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm also at the the church   She will be laid to rest at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Vincennes Pet Port or Knox County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.fredrickandson.com
