I taught building trades at Twin Rivers Vocational Area in the 1990's. I had the pleasure of having Derek in class. As a teacher, you're not supposed to have favorites, but I did. Derek was an awesome student and a highlight of each hectic day. After he graduated, I would occasionally run into him from time to time and get updates on what he was doing and where he was working. I was very proud of him. In my time there, we had more then 300 boys go through that program and though each one was special, Derek was my pick of the bunch. My heart goes out tot the family and in Gods service, I am available for any need his family has. Just ask.

Melinda, children , Mother, brothers, and brothers in life, Sending you our deepest sympathies in the passing of your Husband, Father, Son, Brothers, and his friends in life. We know the pain of loosing a loved one doing something He loved. Keeping you all in our prayers and thoughts in the coming days and weeks. The scripture that helped us through our darkest hours, Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." We went through the darkest time when Michael our youngest and only Son was killed in his bike/deer accident and we didn't know or couldn't find him for almost a day. We have been where you are now, the shock, anger, and hurt. Cherish your memories, they will get you through it.
